Welcome back everybody from our Easter holidays. We hope you all had a restful and memorable one! :)
The children in F1 talked about how they spent their holidays.
Some said that they rode a big aeroplane
and went to a different country, some went to the beach and some stayed home with their families. We
are very pleased to see that the children are learning to use their developing communication skills growing vocabulary as they talk about the details of their trips.
This week, most of the children showed great interest in
exploring our dinosaur resources. They started playing with the dinosaur resources in
the Fundino playground and have been making loud roars in the different learning spaces.
We have now transformed our role play area into a ‘Dinosaur Den’ where the
children can have fun dressing up as dinosaurs, play an imaginative role play,
look at all sorts of dinosaurs e.g. big dinosaur, small dinosaur, flying
dinosaur, swimming dinosaur or look for dino eggs. The children also showed lots of interest in the variety of
dinosaur books that we have in our Reading area. They have been recognising
many different dinosaur names by looking at these and have been particularly good at recognising the sizes and its features.
In our mark-making and workshop areas, the children continue to enjoy doing free drawing and painting activities. They also had a go at connect-the-dot activity this week of different dinosaurs such as triceratops, brachiosaurus, tyrannosaurus rex and dinosaur egg.
In one of our circle sessions this week, we looked at big dinosaur, small dinosaur, tall dinosaur, short dinosaur, spiky dinosaur, swimming dinosaur and flying dinosaur. Some children asked if they can use the Interactive White Board. A number of children pretended to be teachers and showed their friends the different kinds of dinosaurs. We also listened to the song 'ABC Dinosaur' and watched 'The Land Before Time'. It is good to see that the children have now been showing increased confidence in the different learning areas.
Next week, we will continue exploring about the life long ago of the dinosaurs. Please see below the Lyrics of the dinosaur song that we have been singing all week. Have a lovely weekend!
