Flavour of the week in F1

It's an ice cream fun-filled week in F1! Our very first ice cream parlour has just opened and we have been selling dozens and dozens all week!

Aside from a wide selection of ice cream flavours like strawberry, mint, vanilla and chocolate, you can also choose if you want your ice cream in a bowl or in a cone. We also offer ice lollies which are equally delicious!

The children have been particularly very good at selling ice cream, using phrases and sentences such as 'What flavour do you want?', 'in a bowl', 'in a cone', 'Money, please!', 'How much?' and more. They have also been using colours to describe flavours and money names such as penny, pence and pounds.  Gianna always sells the ice cream for 10 pounds! She even sold ice cream to Ms Sue and Ms Grace and both said that they are too expensive!

The children have also been ringing the bells and calling out 'Ice cream anyone?' as they sell in the ice cream parlour. What great sellers we have!

In the malleable area, we have made an ice cream dough! It turned out very soft and smelt really good too!

Here's the recipe for the ice cream dough:

For our workshop area this week, we have made two activities which the children enjoyed!

Ms Precious helped the children make their ice cream sundaes with cotton, paper cups, glitter and coloured glue for the syrup toppings! Everyone had their preference as to what colour they will use and how big will their ice cream be!

One more workshop activity is puffy paint ice cream! This activity was also part of our ICT provision this week as we used the microwave to cook our puffy paint. With support, the children had a go at painting their ice cream stencils and pressing the buttons on the microwave. Some children had a go at this activity a lot of times that they were able to operate the microwave independently afterwards! Well done!

This is a fun activity and the change in texture after putting it in the microwave is what interests the children the most! You can try this recipe at home:

Yesterday, we had a parachute game in the classroom. We all had fun moving the parachute up, down and round and round! The children had a great time shaking the parachute too and keeping the ball from falling off. Good listening skills were observed and we are very proud of all the children for that!

Also this week, Ms Precious showed a video of how ice creams are made. The children were very good at naming the ingredients and the flavours they saw! I think we all got hungry after watching the video clip!

A big well done to all the children for a fantastic week!
You did amazing!
